Hendrick’s Gin is an iconic premium gin crafted in Scotland by William Grant & Sons. This family-owned distillery, founded in 1887 by William Grant, is best known for producing high-quality spirits, including the renowned Glenfiddich whisky. In 1999, the company decided to venture into the world of gin, aiming to create something truly distinctive—and thus, Hendrick’s Gin was born.

The gin is produced at the Girvan distillery, located on Scotland’s southwest coast, in a small, whimsical section known as the “Cabinet of Curiosities.” The master distiller behind Hendrick’s is Lesley Gracie, the creative force who developed its original recipe and unique concept. Hendrick’s is distilled in an unusual way: it blends spirits from two different stills—a traditional copper pot still (Bennett) for deep, rich notes, and a rare Carter-Head still, which yields a lighter, more floral spirit. This dual process allows for a harmonious and complex gin that is both refined and refreshingly unique.

In addition to the base of 11 botanicals—including juniper, coriander, citrus peel, and angelica—Hendrick’s is uniquely infused with essences of cucumber and Bulgarian rose petals. These unexpected ingredients give the gin its unmistakable character. On the nose, it’s gentle and slightly floral, with subtle hints of juniper and citrus. On the palate, it reveals a graceful blend of cucumber freshness, delicate rose petal aroma, and classic herbal depth, finishing smooth and clean.

Hendrick’s is presented with a flair for Victorian eccentricity—its dark apothecary-style bottle, surreal branding, and delightfully quirky marketing hint that this is no ordinary gin.
